Delivery
How long will my order take?
Dispatch within 1 to 2 working days, then 5 to 10 working days for delivery in the UK. Most arrive sooner. Orders outside the UK take longer, depending on the destination and its customs processing. If yours has not come within 30 days you are entitled to a full refund, no argument, wherever you are.
Where do you ship to?
The UK, the European Union, and a further thirteen countries including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. The rate for your address shows at checkout.
Is delivery free?
Free on UK orders over £35. Below that it is £3.99. EU delivery is £14.99 and rest of world is £23.99.
Will I be charged customs or VAT on delivery?
Not in the UK. Every charge is settled before your parcel reaches you, so the price at checkout is the price you pay. Outside the UK we cannot promise that: your country may apply import duty, sales tax or a carrier handling fee on arrival, which is outside our control. Worth checking your own thresholds before ordering.
How do I track it?
You will get a tracking email once it ships. Tracking can take a few days to start updating, which is normal. See Track Your Order.
Solar lights
Do solar lights actually work in the UK?
Yes, but honestly: they work better in June than in January. Short winter days mean less charge and shorter run times. Every product page gives the charge and run times the manufacturer states, and those assume decent daylight.
Where should I put the solar panel?
In direct sun, angled roughly forty five degrees, facing south, and not shaded by the plant you are lighting. Panel in the sun, light in the border. Getting this right matters more than anything else.
Why is my new light not working?
Almost always because it has not charged yet. Switch it on, put it in direct sunlight, and leave it two full days before judging it. To check it is on, cover the panel with your hand and it should light.
Can I leave them out all winter?
Our IP65-rated products are built for rain, snow and frost, and each page states its rating. Expect shorter run times through the darkest months.
Choosing
Warm white or cool white?
Warm white for planting, patios, bedrooms and seating areas. Cool white for worktops, workshops and security, where you need to see colour accurately. Every product page says which it is.
Which lights are bright enough for security?
Look at the lumen figure. Our Sentry runs 1500 lumens, which is genuine security lighting. A decorative stake light is not, and we say so on its page.
Do any of these need wiring?
No. Everything we sell runs on solar or a rechargeable battery. No electrician, no cable, no mains connection.
Why is the range so small?
On purpose. Every product is chosen one at a time, against its actual specification sheet, and anything we cannot stand behind does not go on the site. We would rather sell twenty things properly than four hundred badly.
Returns
Can I return something?
Yes. You have 30 days from delivery to change your mind, for any reason and without giving one. Your statutory right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 is 14 days; we extend it to 30 as a matter of policy. You also have 30 days to reject anything faulty for a full refund. Full detail in our refund policy.
Can I exchange something instead of refunding it?
Yes. Tell us what you would rather have when you get in touch and we will arrange it within the same 30 days. If there is a price difference we will refund or charge it, and we will say which before anything moves.
Do I have to post it back?
Usually yes. For orders under £20 we will often refund and ask you to keep the item, because return postage costs more than the light is worth. For anything from £20 upwards we will give you a return address.
Something arrived broken.
Message us with your order number and tell us what has happened. We will not ask you to post anything back before we have looked at a photo.
