GOOD TO KNOW
Will this work with my existing fittings?
Most of our indoor pieces use standard fittings. The exact fitting is listed in the product details, so check there before you order.
Can I use it outside?
Anything in the outdoor range is weather rated. Indoor pieces are not, so keep those under cover.
Is it dimmable?
Dimmable pieces are marked in the product details. If it is not marked, treat it as fixed output.
On The Wall, Not In Your Eyes
Three LEDs fire upward and three downward, washing the surface above and below rather than glaring outward. On a fence panel that gives two soft triangles of warm light with a dark band between them.
Fitted In Under Five Minutes
Double-sided tape suits smooth render, uPVC or painted timber; the supplied screw suits brick or anywhere windy. Switch it on before you fit it, or it will charge quietly and never light up.
Charges Itself Every Day
A polysilicon panel on the top charges the included AA cell in six to eight hours of sun, giving six to eight hours of light. No cable to run, no adapter, nothing added to your electricity bill.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it need any wiring?
None at all, and no electrician. It is solar only, with the panel built into the top and a rechargeable AA cell already fitted. There is no plug, no adapter and no mains connection anywhere in the product, which is precisely why it can go on a fence at the far end of a garden.
How do I fix it to a fence?
Either the supplied screw or the supplied double-sided tape. Tape holds well on smooth uPVC, render or a painted panel; use the screw on timber, brick or any spot that catches real wind. Whichever you choose, press the on/off button before you fit it, or it will charge quietly and never light.
What is the weather rating?
The manufacturer does not publish one, so we will not quote a figure we cannot stand behind. Treat it as fine for normal rain on a fence, a wall or a porch, and keep it out of standing water and direct jet spray. If you need a confirmed rating in an exposed position, the Sentry and Beacon are both IP65.
How long does it run at night?
Six to eight hours from a full charge, which itself takes six to eight hours of sun. In practice that covers the evening rather than the whole night, and it drops further in midwinter when there is not enough daylight to fill the cell. Treat the quoted figure as a summer best case.
Is it safe around small children?
It contains small parts, so the manufacturer advises keeping it away from children under three while it is out of the box. Once it is screwed or taped to a fence or wall at height this stops being a concern, but it is worth knowing before you unpack it on a kitchen table.

Specifications and full description
What it does
Six SMD LEDs arranged three up and three down, so the light washes the wall above and below the unit instead of glaring out at eye level. On a fence panel or a garden wall that gives you two soft triangles of warm light with a dark band between them, which is the look most people are actually after when they buy a fence light.
It lights a surface rather than a route. Good along a boundary, a porch or a set of steps; not a substitute for a path light.
Fitted in a few minutes, without tools if you want
A screw fixing and double-sided tape are both supplied. Tape is enough on smooth render, uPVC or a painted fence panel; use the screw on timber, brick, or anywhere that catches real wind.
Press the on/off button before you fit it. Otherwise it will sit there charging happily and never light up, which is the single most common complaint about every solar light of this type.
Solar only
A 2V 150mA polysilicon panel on the top charges an AA 1.2V 600mAh cell. The manufacturer quotes six to eight hours of sun for a full charge and six to eight hours of light from it. There is no cable, no adapter and no mains connection anywhere in this product, so it goes on a fence at the end of a garden with no electrician and nothing added to the bill.
One honest caveat on weather
The manufacturer does not publish a weather rating for this light, so we will not quote one. Treat it as suited to a fence, a wall or a porch that gets normal rain, and keep it out of standing water and direct jet spray. If you need a confirmed rating in an exposed position, the Sentry and the Beacon are both IP65.
It also contains small parts, so keep it away from children under three before it goes up on the wall.
Specifications
An IP rating and a lumen figure are not published by the manufacturer, so we do not quote them.
