GOOD TO KNOW
Will this work with my existing fittings?
Most of our indoor pieces use standard fittings. The exact fitting is listed in the product details, so check there before you order.
Can I use it outside?
Anything in the outdoor range is weather rated. Indoor pieces are not, so keep those under cover.
Is it dimmable?
Dimmable pieces are marked in the product details. If it is not marked, treat it as fixed output.
Six, Because One Is No Use
A single light at the top of a flight puts every tread below it into shadow. Six lets you run one every second or third step, which is the arrangement that actually shows you where your foot goes.
On When You Are There
An infrared sensor behind a Fresnel lens, reaching three to six metres across a 120 degree arc. It ignores daylight, so it will not trip in a sunlit hallway, and each light goes out on its own after twenty five seconds.
Nothing To Buy Again
Eight LED beads drawing 0.6W, in white, warm white or natural. Each light has a lithium cell built in and charges over USB, so there are no AAA cells to replace six at a time.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do they fix to the stairs?
Magnetically. A small plate goes on the wall or the riser and the light holds to it, so there is no drilling into a stone step and nothing permanent. Lifting one off to charge takes a second. On a painted or papered wall, work out where you want them before you commit the adhesive side of the plate.
How far do they sense?
Three to six metres, across a 120 degree arc, through an infrared sensor and a Fresnel lens. They ignore daylight, so they will not sit there triggering all afternoon in a sunlit hallway, and each one goes out on its own twenty five seconds after the last movement.
How bright are they?
Under sixty lumens each, from eight LEDs drawing 0.6W. That is orientation light rather than room light: enough to show you the edge of a step or the inside of a wardrobe, not enough to read by. Which is the point on a staircase at two in the morning, when the last thing you want is something that wakes you fully.
How long do they last per charge?
A long while, because each one is only lit for twenty five seconds at a time. A set on a landing used a few times a night goes months between charges. A cupboard that gets opened twenty times a day is a different story, and you would notice those ones fading first. Six USB cables come in the box so you can charge them all at once.
Can they go outside?
No. There is no weather rating on these and the charging port is not sealed, so they are for indoor stairs, landings, wardrobes, cupboards and hallways. For outdoor steps, the Riser solar step light is built for the job and carries an IP65 rating.

Specifications and full description
What it does
Six small round lights that come on as you walk past and go out again twenty five seconds later. Each one is 8.3cm across, holds on magnetically and runs eight LEDs off a rechargeable cell, so there is no wiring anywhere and nothing to wire into.
They are for stairs, landings, wardrobes, cupboards and hallways. Anywhere the problem is finding your footing or finding a coat in the dark.
Six, because one is no use
A single light at the top of a flight throws every tread below it into shadow, which makes the stairs harder to judge rather than easier. Six lets you space them one every second or third step, so each tread is lit from close by and you can see the edge of it.
Six USB cables come with them, one per light, so the whole set charges at once.
The sensor, and why it does not trip all day
An infrared sensor behind a Fresnel lens, reaching three to six metres across a 120 degree arc. It ignores daylight, so a sunlit hallway will not have it firing every few minutes and flattening the battery by teatime.
Each light goes out on its own twenty five seconds after the last movement, which is what makes six rechargeable lights practical rather than a chore.
Brightness, honestly
Eight LEDs at 0.6W, under sixty lumens each. That is orientation light, not room light. It shows you the edge of a step or the inside of a cupboard and it will not wake you fully at two in the morning, which on a staircase is exactly what you want. It is not enough to read by.
Indoors only
Keep them to indoor stairs, landings, wardrobes and cupboards. The charging port is not sealed, so they are not built for weather. For outdoor steps, the Riser solar step light is made for the job and carries an IP65 rating.
