GOOD TO KNOW
Will this work with my existing fittings?
Most of our indoor pieces use standard fittings. The exact fitting is listed in the product details, so check there before you order.
Can I use it outside?
Anything in the outdoor range is weather rated. Indoor pieces are not, so keep those under cover.
Is it dimmable?
Dimmable pieces are marked in the product details. If it is not marked, treat it as fixed output.
Firelight Without The Fire
The flame effect is the whole point of this one, and it is a good one. Warm, uneven, convincingly alive at a glance. No wax, no smoke, no heat, nothing to put out before bed.
Two Ways To Charge
Leave it hanging and the solar panel handles it. Bring it in after a run of grey days and Type-C tops it up. It is the second option that makes it usable through a British autumn.
Hangs Wherever You Want It
A thick natural rope handle rather than a plastic loop, so it sits on a branch, a hook, a pergola or a tent pole and looks like it belongs there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it a real flame?
No. It is an LED flame effect, so there is no fire, no heat and no fuel. Safe to hang near planting, fabric or a tent, and safe to leave burning all evening.
How do I charge it?
Two ways. The panel on top charges it while it hangs, and there is a Type-C port so you can bring it inside and top it up from a plug or laptop after a run of grey days. Most solar lanterns only give you the first option.
Is it safe to leave outside in the rain?
It has a waterproof structure and an impact-resistant ABS body, and it is sold for garden, patio and camping use. The manufacturer does not publish a numbered IP rating, so we will not claim one. If you want a specified rating, the Sentry and the Beacon both state IP65.
How long does a charge last?
The manufacturer does not publish a run time and we are not going to make one up. It uses a built-in Ni-Cd cell, which is a modest capacity chemistry, so treat this as an evening atmosphere light rather than something that will burn until dawn in December. The Type-C port is there for exactly that reason.
What comes in the box?
One lantern, with the battery already fitted. Any standard USB-C cable will work with the charging port.

Specifications and full description
What it does
The flame effect is the whole point of this lantern, and it is a convincing one. Warm, uneven, moving the way firelight actually moves rather than pulsing on a loop. Hung from a branch or a pergola it reads as a real lantern from across a garden, but there is no wax, no smoke, no heat and nothing to put out before bed.
Solar or Type-C charging
Left hanging, the panel on top charges it through the day. After a run of grey days you can bring it inside and top it up over Type-C instead, which is what makes it usable through a British autumn rather than only in July. Having both is genuinely useful here, and it is the main reason we picked this one over the dozens of solar-only flame lanterns.
Built for outside
An impact-resistant ABS body with a waterproof structure, hung on a thick natural rope rather than a plastic loop. Suits patios, balconies, porches, pergolas, camping and festival pitches. The battery is a built-in Ni-Cd cell, included and ready to use out of the box.
