pacc3 GOOD TO KNOW

Will this work with my existing fittings?

Most of our indoor pieces use standard fittings. The exact fitting is listed in the product details, so check there before you order.

Can I use it outside?

Anything in the outdoor range is weather rated. Indoor pieces are not, so keep those under cover.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmable pieces are marked in the product details. If it is not marked, treat it as fixed output.

Bright When Something Moves

A PIR sensor lifts the light to full output when someone comes within eight to ten metres, then drops it back. You get security light where you need it rather than a floodlit garden all night.

Three Modes, One Sensible Default

Twenty seconds high then off; twenty seconds high then dim; or a steady medium light all night. Most people settle on the middle one — a marker glow all evening, full output only on movement.

Put It Where The Wiring Isn't

Frequently Asked Questions

How far does the sensor reach?

Eight to ten metres, covering around thirty square metres with a 180 degree spread, according to the manufacturer. That is a side return, a back gate or a driveway approach rather than a whole garden. Aim it along the route people actually walk rather than out towards a road, or passing traffic will trigger it every few minutes and flatten the battery well before morning.

Will it stay lit all night?

Only in mode three, which holds a medium light for a stated ten to twelve hours from a full charge. In the other two modes it sits dark or dim and goes to full output only when the sensor is triggered. Mode two is the compromise most people settle on: a marker glow all evening, full brightness on movement.

Can it survive a British winter?

It is rated IP65 with an ABS body, so rain, snow and heat are all within range. Short winter days mean less charge and shorter run times, but the unit itself is built to stay out. Give the panel the clearest view of the sky you can and it will cope with the season.

Does it need any wiring?

No wiring and no electrician. The panel on top charges the built-in 1800mAh lithium cell, and there is no cable, no plug and no mains connection anywhere in the product. That is the whole point of it: a gate post, a shed or the end of a driveway, none of which have a socket.

How many lights come in the pack?

One, for the variant listed on this page. The manufacturer's own listing text mentions a four-pack elsewhere, which refers to a different option entirely, so please read this listing as a single unit rather than a set. If you want several, order the quantity you need rather than assuming a multipack arrives in one box.

Specifications and full description

What it does

A solar light with an infrared PIR sensor that lifts to full output when someone comes within range, then drops back down. The manufacturer gives a reach of eight to ten metres over roughly thirty square metres, with a 180 degree spread.

That covers a side return, a back gate, a bin store or a driveway approach. It is not a floodlight for a whole garden, and aiming it as though it were will only mean it triggers all night.

Three modes, and the one most people settle on

Mode one gives twenty seconds of high light on detection, then goes dark. Mode two gives the same twenty seconds, then falls back to a dim glow rather than going out. Mode three simply holds a medium light through the night.

Mode two is the one worth trying first. You get a marker light all evening so the route is never pitch black, and full output only when something actually moves.

Runs on its own

An 1800mAh lithium cell at 3.7V, charged by the panel on top, which the manufacturer says gives ten to twelve hours from a full charge. There is no cable to run and no mains connection, which is the point: it goes on a gate post, a shed or the end of a driveway with no electrician involved and nothing added to the bill.

Built for outside

An ABS body rated IP65, so rain, snow and heat are all within range. Mount it so the panel sees the sky and the sensor faces the route people actually walk, rather than the road. Point it at traffic and passing cars will wake it every few minutes until the battery is flat.
